Google Project 10100
“Project 10100 is a call for ideas to change the world by helping as many people as possible ... Want to change the world? We do too. We're looking for big ideas that help as many people as possible, and we're committed to making the best ones happen ... How it works ... 1. Send us your idea by October 20th ... 2. Voting on ideas begins on January 27th [*] ... We'll post a selection of one hundred ideas and ask you, the public, to choose twenty semi-finalists. Then an advisory board will select up to five final ideas ... 3. We'll help bring these ideas to life ... We're committing $10 million to implement these projects, and our goal is to help as many people as possible. So remember, money may provide a jumpstart, but the idea is the thing ... Helping people is a good thing, and empowering people to help others is an even better thing ... Submit more than one idea ... The submission form includes a field where you can ... Recommend an organization to implement your idea ... Ask Google, even if my idea isn't chosen in this program, to please contact me about organizations that are interested in funding it ... You may include a video [url] of no longer than thirty seconds to further explain or illustrate your idea, [but no website url(s)] ... [*] "Thank you to everyone who submitted an idea. We received over 150,000! ... Due to the enthusiastic response we received, it's taking us longer than we expected to review all the ideas. Check back later, or sign-up to receive an email update when we've announced the top ideas ... [My understanding is, Google is translating the 100 semi-finalist ideas
into the world’s most common languages, so that the voting process may
be participated in internationally, by most of the world’s population.
The best current estimate I've heard for when voting begins is circa
June - July 2009. -- Cliff] ". -- Project 10100
